AL-JAZEERA'S VIEW OF MCDERMOTT

Back in December 2005, Al-Jazeera, on its website aljazeera.com, honored Congressman McDermott as part of its year-end review of congressional activity in 2005. Along with comments lauding Cindy Sheehan and calling for a U.S. "exit strategy" for the war against terrorism, aljazeera.com states:

"Anti-war Democrats ... have gotten organized and are speaking out more effectively than they had been through the 'Out of Iraq Caucus' in the House. House members deserving special recognition include Maxine Waters (D-CA), Lynn Woolsey (D-CA), Dennis Kucinich (D-OH), Barbara Lee (D-CA), Neil Abrocrombie (D-HI), Jim McDermott (D-WA), Michael Capuano (D-MA) and Cynthia McKinney (D-GA) and Henry Waxman (D-CA)."

More recently, on October 27, 2006, Al-Jazeera reported that Jim McDermott has earned entry into the “Hall of Fame” based on his 2006 voting record.  According to their aljazeera.info website:

“The Arab American Institute has released its annual Congressional scorecard, tracking the positions of members of Congress on a range of issues including Lebanon, Palestine, the Dubai Ports controversy, immigration, and civil liberties.  Members of the "Hall of Fame" (those with a perfect score) include … James Jeffords (D-VT) as well as Representatives Neil Abercrombie (D-HI), John Conyers (D-MI), John Dingell (D-MI), Marcy Kaptur (D-OH), Carolyn Kilpatrick (D-MI), Dennis Kucinich (D-OH), Barbara Lee (D-CA), and Jim McDermott (D-WA).”

On election day, the people of the 7th C.D. should be mobilized to reject the anti-Israel approach of Congressman McDermott.  Vote for Steve Beren, a strong defender of Israel and a strong opponent of Islamic terrorism.
